Why start a blog now?

I recently volunteered to do a stand up comedy set for charity, and while I have enjoyed it immensely I really don’t want to take up yet another hobby, I’m supposed to be winding down, not driving all over the show doing 5 minute sets for a few quid. One of the shows I went to watch in Doncaster hosted by the excellent Gag & Bone Man had 2 acts that had come from Newcastle … for a 10 minute set. Much love to them because they were hilarious but that’s not for me.

As much as I’ve loved every minute of doing the course and getting to perform at Sheffield’s legendary venue The Leadmill, I don’t want to be shlepping around Yorkshire every night of the week.

I am going to carry on writing jokes, and I make no apologies to those that are on the end of them, I might get the urge to do the odd open mic night in Sheffield or Barnsley and I would really like to write for other people too, but to do that you have to prove yourself with your own stand up first.

Like anything, you get better with practice so this blog is a place where I can do that.

Just don’t expect it to be full of jokes.
